This past weekend, I ran my fourth consecutive year at Rugged Maniac in Central Florida. Originally I was going to take a break from this year in order to try new races, but an opportunity popped up to do it again, and I couldn’t say no.
So here’s why Rugged Maniac is and always will be one of my favorite obstacle race series.
Even though the purpose of my blog is to discuss obstacle course racing, I feel it’s worth taking time to discuss the new Netflix competition series, Ultimate Beastmaster. Considering the variety of athletes that have taken on The Beast, including a few elite OCR and Crossfit athletes, it still makes sense for me to review it. The HESCO Bone Frog Challenge is an obstacle race company that was founded and is still operated by former Navy SEALs; knowing that, you know the race is going to be epic! And it definitely was. Taking on Bone Frog was my first race since May, and it definitely gave me the challenge that I was looking for.

Once again, I was lucky enough to take on the mighty Savage Race, this my second time taking on the course. This spring event was met with all kinds of ups and downs, but overall, it was definitely a great weekend. Here are my key takeaways from the event:
On February 6, 2016, I took on the course of Warrior Dash in their first event of the year in Florida. Originally, I was unsure if I wanted to write a review because Warrior Dash is big enough that I figured most would write reviews and I didn’t want to crowd it up with my own. Until I started reading other reviews. I was actually surprised by the negative views that many took on. It was founded in 2011 by Sam Abbitt and Lloyd Parker. Abbitt also serves as CEO of the company and Parker is the COO, creating the obstacles that are featured on the course today.
